About Us
Our History
Juneteenth Headquarters held its first celebration in the Eastside Acres Community in 2019. Thelma Williams, Lela Williams and Jessie Gooding were the coordinators. On July 2, 2022, the organization was established as a nonprofit charitable organization in South Carolina with Latosia Simmons as the founding member.
Our mission
At Juneteenth Headquarters, we strive to empower the residents of Colleton County by commemorating the significance of emancipation. Our mission is to educate the community about the history of Juneteenth and foster a sense of unity and celebration.
